All too often acquirors embark on a transaction only then to realize the potentially enormous scope of their new compliance obligations. In light of a new initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to pursue civil False Claims Act enforcement actions against government contractors that fail to meet cybersecurity standards and reporting requirements, the stakes have never been higher.
